Marina Bay Sands Theatre
South, Singapore
24 August 2013

Merlion Wayfarer was invited to the Gala Night of ILO ILO (爸妈不在家) held in the MasterCard Theatre at the Marina Bay Sands last weekend. Compared to the oh-so-many movie "gala premieres" that she had attended, this event was a true "gala" event attend by the A-list in the Singapore entertainment circle.

Little indication at the entrance to the Theatre other than some very well-dressed audience waiting for their partners, a whole bevy of security personnel (Sorry, no photos!)
and a few queue poles with the movie poster...

Channel NewsAsia presenter Glenda Chong with a TV crew preparing for the shoot...

Local veteran actress, Jin Yin Ji, being interviewed and posing for photos...

Presenting the cast of ILO ILO as they make their way down the stairs in a grand entrance...

The Emcees interview Anthony Chen and the cast -
Yeo Yann Yann (杨雁雁), Koh Jia Ler (许家乐), Angeli Bayani, Chen Tian Wen (陈天文)...

Anthony says a few words about the film...

Remy Martin presents a special token to Anthony Chen...

A very classy member of the French film crew...

Yeo Yan Yan was 6 months pregnant when she filmed this movie.
Her daughter is now 1 year old and celebrates her birthday today...
After the movie, the director and cast were on stage again...
It was a very emotional moment for everyone...

More so for Anthony, who waited three years to stand here
to see the success of his film on a Singapore screen...
Anthony's touching thank-you speech...

The shot taken of the director and the cast with the entire three-storey audience behind...
(For that shot, for once, the photographers shared the stage)

President Tony Tan bids his farewell after the movie...
Look who's here - Eric Khoo (Film Director of Mee Pok Man and 12 Storeys), a dashing Pierre Png that stood out even up upstairs with his charisma, Andrea D'Cruz, Eunice Olsen who was stunning in her white-black cheongsum, Ivan Heng (founder of Wild Rice), many other MediaCorp personalities, other cast in the movie - the principal, the Lucky Plaza hairdresser...

The MBS crew all lined up alongside the red carpet to give all a memorable farewell...
ILO ILO was first released at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival as part of the Directors' Fortnight on 19 May 2013. At the festival, the film was awarded the Camera d'Or award, thus becoming the first Singaporean feature film to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
