At the Chinese New Year street market, sellers galore. Makeshift stalls are decked with goods - both edible and inedible - in the brightest colours of the rainbow. Stallholders shout and call into loudspeakers and give out hundreds of free samples. All so that more customers will come. And Buy, Buy, Buy...

Yes, you are here - right in the heart of the Chinese New Year street market in bustling Chinatown. The stores nearest to the Chinatown MRT station stick to their usual wares - Touristy stuff for visitors to buy back as mementos...

Some stalls are not ready yet, while others are doing a roaring trade...

During Chinese New Year, goods are "advertised" in auspicious colours of red and gold,
with auspicious sounding names...

 Gold horses, coins and ingots - Huat ah!

Bulbs that will bloom...

Bamboo shoots that will change your luck - In figures of 8...

"S$6 a packet!", he announces as he snips up the seaweed crackers for the curious aunties who wanted to sample his wares. "Have some too!" his friend cajoles.

On a weekday, the streets are emptier, shopping is a breeze with the recent windy weather...

Uncle buys, Ah Ma buys, Ah Mei buys...

Make a stop for Macau goods... Will be unique when offered to your guests...

This waxed meat stall has been here for many years. Aunty bought from here for many years too.
